Best practices for deciding how long to leave questions active on Polco.
How Long Should Questions Be Active on Polco?
When posting a question on Polco, you have two options for deciding when you will no longer accept responses. The first option is to pre-select an end date for the response time. The second option is to not include an end date, which allows responses until you decide to close the question. Each option has its own merits; consider all benefits when making your decision.
Standard Guidelines
- Leave the question active long enough to allow everyone to have the opportunity to respond. This may take as many as 6 or 8 weeks, depending on the issue and its complexity.
- If the question is specific to an issue, you should deactivate the question once the issue has been resolved.
- Seasonal questions (such as those regarding snow removal, summer recreation programs, etc.) should be closed outside of the season. An exception would be if you are using the question for future planning, as you may want to get the responses in time to make your decision before the season.
- If, while viewing the dashboard, you see that new responses have ceased or are very infrequent, you could increase your engagement initiatives or close the question if it has been open for a satisfactory length of time.
